I don’t think there’s been a time when fresh, glowy skin hasn’t been in fashion. I feel like I’ve been working on perfecting a glowy complexion for quite some time so I thought I’d share some of my favourite products that I use to achieve a good ‘glow’.
For me it starts with some good skincare, and trying to keep my skin clear from balckheads and dead skin. The Pixi Glow Mud mask is the perfect combination of exfoliating and clearing at the same time. This makes my skin look so fresh and makes it look super clear without drying it out! Another Pixi product that’s a favourite is the Hydrating Milky serum. It adds a nice boost of hydration to my skin without making it greasy or clogging my pores, it seriously helps clear up my dry skin patches too. Another serum I cant get enough of is the True Water Hydrating Serum*, this is a crazy hydration boost to the skin and it plumps up my skin in ways I cant believe! Its crazy hydrating makes my skin nice and bouncy if I apply this overnight. The next thing is a kind of skincare/makeup hybrid. The Farsali unicorn essence feels like a lovely lightweight serum when you apply it to the skin and it has a lovely hydrating quality, its also got a beautiful scent and a slight shimmer running through it that makes your skin look super pretty and glowing, even on the days when you decide to go makeup free! I think blush plays a big part in glowy skin too, if you use something with a little bit of shimmer it just adds a little extra sheen to your cheeks. Some of my favourites at the moment are the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat, because the power is so beautiful and finely milled and the combination of lighting power and blush creates such a stunning look. The Urban Decay Afterglow blushes are very beautiful too, they’ve all got a lovely luminosity too them that really makes you look like you’re glowing from within. My favourite shade is Score which is a pretty peach that really works well with my pale complexion. Becca make some beautiful blushers as well, the Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush in Snapdragon is my go to when I want to add a pretty pop of colour and a bit of something something. Another winner is the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic blush is Ecstasy, these blushes have 2 colours, one a little more shimmery than the other so you can really customise your look. My favourite part of doing my makeup, is adding the highlighter right at the end. I’m a highlighter addict and I am fully aware of it! The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Vanilla Quarts has become my all time favourite as of late, its a beautiful vanilla shade and it really makes me beam wherever I apply it. I cant get enough of this. I have to mention my Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits too, both in Gleam and Moonchild. Both have some pretty serious dents in some of the pans, but they powders are so beautiful and soft and the highlighters are seriously blinding and beautiful! Another favourite is the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Power in Highlight 01, every time I use this I become obsessed with it because its just so good. Mac Vanilla Pigment also deserves a mention because its a classic and looks good in the inner corners of your eyes or lightly applied on the top of the cheekbones, its a bit messier than a pressed powder but its totally worth it if you want to stand out. For liquid highlighter my go to is the Gosh Lumi Drops, you can use this as a highlighter alone or mix a little in with your foundation to make it more dewy on application, its very pretty! Lastly, I feel like I have to mention face shaving. I know this isn’t going to be for everyone, but it makes such a big difference. I use these small eyebrow razors, you can get them on amazon very cheap, and use them to gently remove the peach fuzz from my face. It hasn’t made me grow a beard so no panicking, but it gently exfoliates and leaves my skin super smooth. It stops my makeup looking cakey because it doesn’t stick to my face hairs and it helps a lot with any texture I might have too. I think I’ll do a more in depth post about it but know that it does a lot of good!
