Monthly Favourites July 2014!

It feels like the longest time since I did a favourites post. I just never seem to get the time! Anyways, this month I've had some pretty strong contenders but these are the final 5 that made the cut. If a full review isn't up on something you see here, don't worry because I'm sure it'll be up in the near future!

First up is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I've heard a lot of people talk about this range and how good it is. Lately I've been struggling with really dry under eyes and pretty much all concealers have been creasing or looking super cakey - not pretty. This concealer has a nice light texture that seems to blend seamlessly into my skin yet its still able to give good coverage. An 'accidental' purchase of the Louise Young LY06 brush has made its way to my favourites because its literally the softest brush I've ever felt. Its great for a variety of things too, from powder to blush. The Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick has been my go to highlight - to just gives my skin such a gorgeous glow. Plus the colours work great as eyeshadows too. MAC's Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden has been providing me with that summer tan I've been after. I don't use fake tan on my face so this has been perfect for warming up my pale cheeks. Lastly I've been rocking this YSL eyeshadow palette in number 7. The colours kind of remind me of a sunset and I think they look stunning with some winged liner for a night out!

What have your favourites been this month?

MAC 'Naked' Pigment!

Hello everyone! Today I bring you my second MAC pigment, its a good one so make sure you take note! I think you'll love it!

The colour Naked is kind of like a combination of champagne, skin colour, shimmery, golden and beauty. It looks amazing swept all over the eyelid and also makes a really nice glowy highlight on the cheekbones. The pigmentation is, of course, top notch as MAC never seems to lets down on this. If you're looking for that quick product to throw on for summer, you should definitely check this out! I can't wait to try out more pigments, let me know if you have any colour recommendations in the comments below!

Topshop 'Spotlight' Glow Stick!

Right now I'm all about the summer glow and this product here does exactly what I need, whats even better is that its pretty affordable and available from Topshop! The makeup range from Topshop has been impressing my a lot lately and this new discovery is no exception.

This is pretty much a cream blush in a kind-of giant chubby stick. Benefits of it being packaged in this way mean you can throw it in your bag and top it up throughout the day if you need to. Its the kind of thing I'd take on holiday, and I can see myself sweeping some on by the beach to give my skin a gorgeous flushed glow. However, I'm not heading to a sunny paradise anytime soon. I can say it performs well as a cream blush, it lasts really well on my skin and adds a beautiful coral glow to my skin. You can sweep on a small amount to create a highlighted effect or you can add a little more for more colour and even more glow. The colour kind of reminds me of Nars Orgasm blush but in a cream, much more affordable version. They do another shade of the Glow Stick which is a champagne colour which I think I'll definitely be picking up to use as a highlight!

Dior Addict 'Passionnée 771' Lipstick!

Lipstick junkies listen up! This new lipstick has blow me away, I bought it for the colour but its so much more. Its not a staple in my makeup bag and think it'll be staying there over the summer!

First of all, its a gorgeous semi-bright pink with a blue undertone. Perfect for any skin tone in my opinion. It goes on quite sheer but can be built up for more colour payoff, and what makes it so great is that it doesn't dry my lips out one bit. I can wear this all day, touch it up several times and by the end of the day when I take it off my lips are in just as good a condition as when I first applied it! The packaging is amazing, a perk that comes with the price tag I suppose, but it sure looks and feels great to whip this out of your handbag on the go. It just has that wonderful luxury feeling that you would - of course - expect from a brand such as Dior. If you feel like treating yourself this summer, this is what I'd recommend you spend your money on!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water!

All I hear about is Bioderma, and how wonderful it is at everything. I've never tried it because its pretty hard to get a hold of unless you live in France. However, the high street has unveiled several products that claim to do the exact same. I love the L'Oreal micellar solution and when my 8th or 9th bottle ran out recently I decided to try this since it was on offer.

I hear a lot of beauty gurus say that Bioderma is like water on the skin, and they claim the drugstore versions sting their eyes or are too harsh on their skin. Personally, I think having not tried Bioderma puts me in a good position to honestly review cheaper alternatives such as these. This micellar water is lovely, it takes of makeup, including eye makeup, it refreshes the skin and doesn't cause my any pain or irritation. Its just like water. Just the same as the L'Oreal solution. If I were given the two I honestly wouldn't know the difference. I like these water cleansers for after I've washed my face properly, just to remove anything else that might be lingering and they do a fantastic job. The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water gets the thumbs up from me, so if you want something without the fuss to get the job done then I highly recommend it. Personally, I'll buy whatever is on the best offer - whether that be L'Oreal or Garnier they're both great!

MAC 'Peony Petal' Blush!

Today I bring you, not only my new favourite but the perfect summer blush. Its so perfect I can't believe I didn't own it for so long. Let me introduce you..

Peony Petal is a satin finish blush which means it has a slight sheen when applied. Its not matte and its not shimmery either, it just adds a nice amount of glow to the skin. Its a bright blue-pink colour which I think compliments a tan rather nicely. Its beautifully pigmented - as are all MAC blushes - and applies brilliantly. Why I love it so much is because once I pop this on my cheeks it just makes me look so much more healthy, like I'm glowing from within. The pop of colour is perfect for the summer and looks gorgeous with a bronze smokey eye. Its lovely as it can be applied sheer or built up for a more intense look. An all round winner in my opinion!

Simple Kind To Skin Sun-Kissed Moisture Cream!

Pale friends, listen up. Tanning is hard if you're pale, let alone trying to add colour to your face without looking like a raging oompa loompa. I picked this up on a whim on a recent trip to Tesco (the best place for beauty steals) for about £3 and thought to myself, theres not much that can go wrong. Pleasantly, I've been rather impressed and somewhat surprised too.

If you're pale like me then don't panic, your face is not going to develop throughout the day and you won't end up orange within a few hours of application. I like to use this morning and night when I require a little more colour as its effects are quite subtle. I feel it would build up a much stronger tan if I didn't wash my twice a day but thats not something I can stop. On the skin it feels like a really nice light moisturiser, and comes out white. Throughout the day it tints the skin a slightly darker colour than what it naturally is, and after a few days of use I feel like I can move up to a slightly darker foundation shade. It doesn't tan miracles but it is even and it does work. If your skin is any darker than mine I'm not to sure how well it'll show up, but if you already tan your body a little then this is a good one for helping match things up. I have quite oily skin and this doesn't effect this at all, nor does it break me out. £3 well spent in my opinion!

Topshop 'The Damned' Lipstick!

If you've been reading the blog for a little while now you'll know I'm a sucker for a good plum lipstick. Believe it or not, this is my first lipstick from Topshop too. I've heard them raved about soooooooo much here on the blogosphere but just never got around to picking one up. I'm pretty impressed with it so let me share my thoughts!

I wasn't expecting too much from this lipstick as sometimes I find products are over hyped and then when it comes to the crunch they really don't perform. However, everyone is pretty on point when it comes to their good reviews of these lipsticks. I have pretty dry lips, and unless its unavoidable I pretty much never wear matte lipsticks due to this. This cute little beauty genius is lovely, it glides on the lips wonderfully, no tugging and no emphasis on the dry parts. It kind of reminds me of a cross between a creamsheen and a lustre (MAC reference) finish, as if they had a magical baby and this is what popped out. This is hands down, one of the only lipsticks I own that does not make my lips feel dry in any way. It literally felt like I was wearing lip balm all day. Added bonus, its the perfect plum-berry colour which as you all by now, I absolutely love. And yes, I wear plum lipstick all year round!

Garden Flowers!

Something a little different for todays post! I thought I'd share with you all some of the pictures I took the other day in my garden. It was sunny for a change and everything just looked super pretty! Let me know if you like these kinds of different posts and maybe I'll post photos more often! P.s. I'm not a photographer, but I do enjoy taking pictures haha! I'm also not a gardener so all the plants are down to my mum!

MAC 'Young At Heart' Casual Colour - Playland Collection!

Hey everyone! I'm talking about a limited edition product today which I know might be a pain for some of you but even though this is sold out online my local MAC have plenty from this collection still in stock so you still might be able to grab it! Apologies in advance if you can't get your hands on it! Anyways, this little cutie was the only product I actually ended up purchasing from the Playland collection, I had been eyeing the lipsticks but after seeing them in person they weren't anything I wanted - sad face!

The casual colours from MAC can be used on both the cheeks (like a cream blush) or on the lips (kind of like a  lip balm). I personally absolutely love this on the cheeks, it has a matte/waxy kind of texture which seamlessly blends in to the skin and looks so pretty! It works well on the lips too however, I find it can be a little drying and prefer to apply a lip balm over the top. The pigmentation is totally on point, something that MAC never seams to get wrong! I'd advise being careful when applying it to the cheeks or you might end up looking a little too rosy haha! Overall its a really lovely multi purpose product and the colour is so on trend for the summer weather thats coming around. The cool toned barbie pink adds a perfect brightness to the face and wakens up my complexion! Its love!
