bareMinerals Original Foundation!

bareMinerals is always a brand I've been interested in, but believe it or not, I've never actually tried any of their products! I saved up my Boots points for a little while and once I had enough I decided that I would give their original foundation a go. What better why to get to know a brand than to try their foundation right?

Of course I didm't need a new foundation but when do I ever need a new lipstick either haha? I don't own any powder foundations and I've been wanting to try one for such a long time now. I was a little unsure and even a little skeptical as to how it would pan out but I've actually ended up really loving this. I have quite an oily t-zone with some pretty horrendous pores going on too - my skin has been playing up so bad recently! Somehow this foundation manages to smooth over everything though and leaves a very poreless and perfected base. I thought with it being a loose powder that it would go absolutely everywhere but the process of tapping a little into the lid and then swirling the brush (I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush) around in it is surprisingly neat. What I love about this so much is the fact that is is so build able and you can literally achieve any kind of coverage you want depending on how much you layer on, for me personally, I don't like too heavy a base so it works out really well. A little certainly goes a long way too, I've always wondered how I powder can provide coverage like a foundation and this seems to do it really well. It lasts very well too, it pretty much stays in place all day on the drier parts of my face and on my t-zone it lasts well, only needing a couple of touch ups throughout the day. It's so quick and easy to apply and I think it might quickly be one of my new favourites!

NARS 'Never Say Never' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil!

If you read my recent post on plum lips you will already recognise this absolute beauty, but I thought it deserved its very own post so I can spill all the details with you!

The Velvet Matte Lip Pencils have a very matte texture (obviously) but they somehow manage to avoid being overly drying on the lips. They glide on like a dream and don't drag like some matte lipsticks can. What I love more is that the colour is build able, you can apply a sheer layer and blend it in with your fingers for a tinted lip colour effect, or you can build it up layer by layer to create and intense matte look. I personally love a matte lip as I think it can balance out a smokey eye well and for me, matte lips almost look and feel natural! I love how pigmented this pencil is and how it manages to be matte but not too drying. The colour - of course - is right up my alley, a berry-plum colour with blueish undertones which I think compliment my fair complexion perfectly. If I don't feel like matte lips I simply apply a little lip balm on top of this and it adds an extra bit of moisture back into the lips without altering the finish of the lip pencil too much. Personally I can't wait to get my hands on more of these and if you haven't got a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in your makeup bag - you're seriously missing out!

Collection 'Nude' Work The Colour Eye Palette!

I've seen this little palette sweep across my blog feed a few times recently so I thought it was about time I got around to writing about it myself!

First of all I want to mention the bargain that this palette is, it only costs £3.99! Its a nice little compact eyeshadow palette that has a beautiful range of shades! I decided not to swatch them all as I think you can get the just from the ones I did do. Whats great about this palette is that it has 1, 2 and 3 written on the rows of shades as a guide on how to apply them, of course you can mix and match as you please but I think its a nice touch that could be helpful to those that are perhaps just starting out with makeup. It has a good variety of mattes and shimmers, the mattes being really great for the price of the palette, a tiny bit chalky if you're too heavy handed but otherwise they're perfectly fine. The shimmers are all pretty fantastic, a wee bit of fall out on a few but the pigmentation on all of the eyeshadows is really good. I can't comment on how long they last as I prime my eyes daily and nothing ever budges! I think if you're after a cute little nude eyeshadow palette for a great price then this is something to definitely check out!

Clinique 'Plum Pop' Cheek Pop Blush!

How cute is this blush?! I seriously love the clear packaging and the cute flower inspired blush so much! These have kicked up a fuss in the blogging world and I couldn't resist getting my hands on one! Just look at how cute it is!

Aside from the fact it looks super cute, this blush is actually really good. The colour is fabulous, its a nice bright pink colour that has plum undertones, meaning it really gives a beautiful pop to the cheeks. I think its the perfect blush shade for spring and summer as it makes you look bright, awake and ready to go! This blush has a slight sheen to it which has a really nice brightening effect, its not completely matte but its not shimmery either - it just adds a nice glow to the face which is what I'm a fan of! The pigmentation is great too, its not ridiculously pigmented that you have to watch how much you put on your brush but its just right in the fact that a quick swirl of your brush picks up the perfect amount to apply to the cheeks. It lasts pretty much all day on my skin and leaves me with a gorgeous pink glow! This is definitely making its way to an all time favourite blush for me and I think more of the shades from this range might be accidentally coming home with me next time I go to Boots!

Korres 'Quince' Lip Butter!

You know when you just pick something up on your way to the till? Thats what happened with this little gem when I was in Harvey Nichols a little while ago. I know people love these and rave about them so much so as I was passing a quickly grabbed it and didn't look back. Its something that I'm glad I picked up as its so wonderful and I love it so much!

Oh heres me being an awkward lip model....

This lip butter has a different texture from what I'm used too. In the pot its very soft and has a kind of oily texture to it rather than a balmy texture - if you know what I mean! I actually really like it though, its very nourishing on the lips and keeps them really hydrated throughout the day. The colour 'Quince' its stunning also, I know I mentioned it in my Plum Lips post but its such a lovely berry-plum colour that looks great for a day look. I find that a lot of tinted lip balms still manage to dry out my lips but this one doesn't do that. I think it might be something to do with its texture. I think I'm definitely going to be picking up more of these when I get the chance and I'm also really interested in Korres skincare so let me know if you have any favourites!

Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Powder!

Being one of those oily girls, I have to touch up my face a couple of times a day. I usually use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder with a kabuki brush to quickly erase any shine of my face but after a dropped it the other week I decided to try out something new. I think I've bought the Rimmel about 5 or 6 times now because I love it so much, however, this blows it completely out the water!

Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot is translucent and this is the only colour it comes in which I think is great, I always find translucent powders look so much more natural on the skin. What makes this so good for me is that is so finely milled, its so soft and when you apply it, it honestly doesn't look like theres much on your skin but it manages to do a great job of mattifying the skin. Soap and glory have also done a great job on the packaging as per usual, it's super cute and comes in a protective hard plastic case that has a generous mirror inside too which I love as it means I don't have to apply my powder blind! As well as being a great touch up powder this also is a great one for setting makeup with too, it does a fabulous job and I think I'll be repurchasing this forever!

Seventeen Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter!

I love a good highlighter and I finally managed to find this is my local Boots, its been sold out for the longest time which is so frustrating since I wanted to get my hands on it so badly! Its one of those multi-purpose products and I've been really impressed with its versatility.

Being a little oily in the t-zone I thought this might make me a bit of a shiny mess and I wasn't sure how it would hold up. Surprisingly so it actually makes my makeup last a little longer which is something I totally didn't expect from such a glowy product. Also dabbing a little on the top of the cheekbones after applying foundation creates a lovely highlighted look thats fresh, dewy but not glittery or wet looking. When I've mixed this with foundations its also worked really well too, it adds some luminosity to the skin but doesn't ruin the foundation. Of course it sheers them out a little but it gives you a really nice glow that looks so good everyones going to be asking you how you look so good! It also kind of reminds my of Benefits High Beam, but when I mix that into my foundation it ends up sliding down my face so this is much better in my opinion! I think if you're after a good glow then this is definitely something to try out - if you can find it!

My Thing For Plum Lips!

Being a pale girl I find the common nude colours that everyone loves just make me look ill or like I've got concealer on my lips. I've always loved a good plum lip but it wasn't until I rounded up my favourites I realised that I probably have a plum lip colour for every occasion! I think that plum colours are the kind that I can get away with wearing all year round as they really brighten up my face! Here are the ones I love the most...

Left to Right: MAC 'Plumful', Soap & Glory Gloss Stick 'Raplumzel', NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil 'Never Say Never', Korres Lip Butter 'Quince', MAC 'Craving', Inglot '132'.

And for all you out there who try tell me they're all the same, they're not! They're all so different, different textures, pigmentation and formulas. The likes of the Inglot lipstick and MAC 'Craving' are darker more vampy kind of plum colours which make a great choice for a night out. The Korres lip butter and the Soap & Gloss stick are more day-to-day plums which add that little something to the face and the rest are just great plum lipsticks! My first ever MAC lipstick was Plumful and I think thats what started my whole love for plum lips!

Let me know if you have a favourite kind of lip colour!

MUA £1 Eyeshadows!

I'm totally into grabbing a good bargain so the last time I was in Superdrug I decided to pick up three of MUA's eyeshadows. At £1 each I decided that there wasn't too much that could go wrong! I love MUA as a brand and they do some fantastic products and super good prices!

If you purchase these, remember they're only £1 each and they're not going to be as fantastic as MAC eyeshadows but they are very good for their price. I ended up picking out one matte shade which is a dark, cool toned brown. Its really nice and pigmented and it blends onto the eyes really well, it can be a little chalky but its pretty good and personally I don't have any complaints! I also picked up a shimmery champagne colour which is a pearl formula, this one is really nice, its quite soft so you have to be careful not to pick too much up on your brush but apart from that its a really nice shadow that again blends really nicely. Lastly I decided to pick up another pearl shade which is a bronzy-copper type colour, this is probably my least favourite of the three. Its nice and pigmented but its very chunky and the chunks tend to fall down my face a little. I find that with a dry brush the eyeshadow seems to go everywhere apart from my eyes, however with a wet brush it packs on really well and gives a really nice metallic effect to the eyes. I'm personally really pleased with all three shadows, especially for £1 each! I think its just worth giving them a go using them a few different ways to really tell what the best thing to do with them is! They also have a really nice range of shades!

Let me know if you've ever tried these eyeshadows!

March Beauty Favourites 2014!

It's that time again for my top 5 products of the month! Of course I love loads of products all month long but I always narrow it down so that my posts aren't 500 years long! This month has been one of both new discoveries and rediscovering old products too!

First off I've been getting a lot of use out of MAC's Paint Pot in 'Quite Natural', I've been using it as a quick wash of colour over my eyelids when I'm in a hurry and I've also been using it to contour. You might think its bazar to contour with a Paint Pot but one of my favourite YouTubers 'Whatwouldlizzydo' made a video about how she learned to contour from MAC and it features this exact product! Next Up is the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in 'Raplumzel' Simply because it has an amazing formula and the colour is right up my street! I won't go on as this was featured on my blog the other day! I rediscovered my MAC Cream Colour Base in 'Pearl'. I saw Pixiwoo use it in one of their recent tutorials and I remembered how much I used to love it, its a fabulous cream highlighter and I'm not sure how I ever forgot about it. A new love of mine is the Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in 'Plum Pop' which is a super pretty pink blush that really brightens up the face. I've pretty much been wearing it since I got it and its making me want to pick up a few more shades! My final favourite for March is the Percy and Reed Hair Wonder Balm which I actually got free in the latest issue of Elle. It somehow manages to make my hair feel nourished but still allows it to have that slightly messy, be achy texture that I love!

I'd love to hear what your favourites are right now! Leave a comment below!
