MAC Mineralize Skin Finish - Soft & Gentle

Words cannot describe people! And nor do any pictures do this justice! I've seen this on so many blogs and all over YouTube so I decided to splash out and get it for myself. I actually asked my Gran to pick this up on her recent trip to America (I live in the UK) as with the exchange rate, it works out cheaper.

This is honestly the prettiest thing I've ever seen! As I've mentioned before the nearest MAC counter to me is just over 150 miles away - how inconvenient! This means I rarely get the chance to go in and swatch away and drool over all the wonderful pretties they sell. Before I got this I hadn't personally seen it in person, I'd seen it on blogs, swatched all over YouTube and so on, and I always thought it looked really pretty. However, in person it takes pretty to a whole new level! I think this will make a gorgeous highlighter for the summer as its very warm toned and it is slightly gold/bronze - but not too much. It adds the perfect amount of light and shimmer to the face without looking ridiculous. I think I've fallen in love!

Clinique All About Eyes

I've actually ended up with 2 samples of this so I decided to give it a whirl. Not that I've got any serious problem with ageing but I feel prevention is better than cure!

I've been applying this at night after I've cleanser my skin and washed my face. I think it feels nice and refreshing on the skin, slightly cooling too. It doesn't feel super heavy or greasy and sinks in after about 15 minutes. I've really been enjoying using this, as I said already I don't have any problems with ageing but I feel its nice to use something anyways. In the morning I definitely find that my eyes are less puffy and the skin around my eyes feels really soft and plump. I can hear my bank account already sobbing in the background because it knows when I'm done with the samples I'm going to be hitting the shops to pick up a full size! I think it's a really nice product and it's definitely making my eyes look less sleepy and more awake!

A good black mascara with great big wand, what more could a girl want?!

I love this mascara! I bought it as part of a set around november time and only now is it starting to dry out a little, not much but its not quite what it used to be. I know you're supposed to get a new mascara every 3 months but personally I don't see the point in wasting good products if you don't need to. I don't share my mascara with anyone else either so I don't think that I'm going to be attacked by germs.. I also tend to have 2-3 mascaras on the go at one time so I find they don't always run out after 3 months.. anyways! This mascara is really good, length, volume, super black. It ticks all the right boxes! I'm a big fan of the large wand as I find it speeds up the application process. Two coats of this and my lashes look amazing! One of the best mascaras I've tried so far.

Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes

Yep, that's right! Not for your lips, for your eyes! I think these have been out for a little while now and after reading all the hype, could I resist? Of course not... Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Stick for Eyes in the colour 04 Ample Amber is my new favourite!

Ample Amber is the perfect orangey/bronzey kind of colour that looks great in the crease or swept all over the lid. I find it so easy to apply and the pigmentation is amazing! Most of all though, I'm in love with the colour! A few people have said they have a problem with these creasing on them, but I wear an eyeshadow primer everyday without fail and haven't noticed any problems, but I guess I can't comment that properly! With a primer I does last all day on my eyes without fading or creasing. I think the concept of an eyeshadow in a stick like this is a great idea too, I know Clinique aren't the first to do this but it really does make things easier when you're in a hurry!

I really, really love this! I can see my self picking up a few more in the future haha!

Benefit High Beam

I'm not gonna lie! I kind of forgot I had this, and how much I love highlighters in general. Plus I already thought I'd written about it.. Apparently not!

Benefit High Beam is a pink toned, liquid highlighter which is very iridescent. In my opinion it gives the most gorgeous glow to the cheek bones, especially for someone like me who is extremely pale! I've pretty much been using this every day for a good 2-3 weeks now since I rediscovered it! I think its absolutely stunning and if you haven't already tried it out, you're really missing something great!

I find this really easy to apply too, I just add a tiny dot on the top of each cheek bone and then pat it in gently with my fingers and it never fails to give me the perfect glowy skin! The Spring/Summer makeup trends for 2013 show glowy and dewy skin everywhere, generally everyones looking quite radiant and healthy. I think this is the perfect highlighter to achieve that perfect, glowy look. I mean, who doesn't want to look healthy and radiant?! It gives the perfect amount of light-relecting-ness without the addition of loads of glitter and shimmer!

I definitely suggest giving this a try out next time you pass a Benefit counter as it truly is one of the most pretty highlighters I've ever used!

Eco Tools Domed Bronzer Brush

You know when you're in a hurry? And your face is looking a bit pale, and needs a little warming up? This brush is your saviour for all those things!

Before this brush I didn't have just a big fluffy type brush for quick application of colour to the face, so I picked this up hoping it would do the job. I also don't have any other Eco Tools Brushes.

I was pleasantly surprised with how soft this brush is! It also does a really good job of sweeping the right amount of bronzer over your face. Despite being quite dense it doesn't pick up excessive amount of product which is really impressive. I think this brush is decently priced too, it cost me £9.99 and when you compare this price to the likes of MAC brushes its definitely worth giving a go. If I remember rightly on the packet of this brush Eco Tools claim this brush is natural, recyclable and PVC free - along with all the other good stuff thats good for the environment!

I'm really impressed with this brush, I didn't expect something like this to feel such high quality! I genuinely don't think you can go wrong.

I'd always seen Eco Tools brushes in Boots but I'd never really taken much notice of them, to be honest I'm a bit of a Real Techniques die hard fan... But I will definitely be picking up more from Eco Tools in the future!

No More Google Reader OR Google Friend Connect?!

I'm not quite sure why Google would want to do such a thing?! Google Reader is what I assume most of us use to keep up to date with all the blogs we follow through Google Friend Connect (GFC) - another thing which is also leaving us!

I'm genuinely sad that Google would make a decision like this, but I suppose they're trying to encourage people to use Google +, something I've still not really got the hang of. I just thought it would be a good idea to give me followers a little heads up if they are common users of these features.

I have a few suggestions as to what to do when Google Reader and GFC are gone. The best thing I can recommend is signing up to a site like Bloglovin, its similar to google reader but you can follow any kind of blog, from wordpress to blogger. It's really easy to use and you can import all the blog's you're already following through Google Reader/GFC to it in one easy click. Click here to visit my blog through Bloglovin and you can see if you like the set up!

Another thing you can do is follow my blog through Facebook, I post on my page every time a blog post is up so you wont miss a thing! Click here to visit my Facebook page

Even though I might not have the most followers on my blog I really do appreciate each and every one and I would be really happy if you could continue to follow me through another reader. Thank you so much for reading. RIP Google Reader & Google Friend Connect.

Benefit The Pore Fessional

Another sample I've had kicking around for a while now! I actually thought I'd already written about this but apparently not! I think this is pretty much meant to be a primer which smoothes over your pores before you apply any makeup. I think it does quite a good job, it reminds me a lot of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in the way it feels on my skin. I feel like this makes my skin look really good once I've applied it but I find when I buff my foundation in it kind of disappears a little. The good thing about it though is that you can also apply it after foundation if you prefer, which is what I've been doing! I tend to smooth a tiny amount over any large pores that my foundation hasn't smoothed out enough and it leaves my skin looking flawless. I really do like this product a lot but I'm undecided on purchasing the full size as I think I'd rather buy the Smashbox primer!

If you've used this please let me know what you think! And help me decide between this and the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer!

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief

Despite having a very oily T-Zone I have quite dry skin on my cheeks. I've been using this on the drier parts of my face at night and I am so impressed!

This is just a sample size that I got after my mum had been raving about it for so long! I use this at night and it feels nice and light on my skin which I like as I'm not a fan of heavy creams. I think it sinks in relatively fast but it still feels like theres something on the skin, in a good way. When I wake up in the morning, where I've applied this, my skin feels amazingly soft! It doesn't have a scent and it works really well! I think I will definitely be buying this once I use up the sample!

I definitely recommend this to anyone with dry skin! It works really well!

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

I got a sample of this back in December but I never really used it all that much, initially I didn't think very much of it. I purchased the Smashbox Photo Finish Light because I was told it was great for oily skin, I did write a post about that but I removed it as it was quite negative and I like to try and keep a positive atmosphere here on my blog! Basically I didn't like the Photo Finish Light as it didn't work for me.

Anyways! I've been using this every day for about 2 weeks now and I'm really starting to become addicted! It feels so lovely and velvety on the skin and really evens out any large pores before applying make up. I think this does quite a good job at making my foundation last longer too. I don't think it controls the oil, but usually I find my skin will get oily and then my makeup will have melted along with it.. weird yeah? okay.. But when I've been wearing this, my skin will get oily but the makeup wont have disappeared which means I just need to blot and everything's okay again!

I really like this primer and I'm seriously tempted to buy the full size.. Once the Beauty Buying Ban is over with! It feels great on the skin and think it is an extremely good base for makeup!

My Current Skincare Routine!

I love reading these posts, I decided to do my own! I don't use anything particularly expensive, just what works for me. I have very oily skin in my T-Zone and my skin is also very acne prone - it's cleared up a lot over the past year though!

In the morning in the shower I use a face scrub, I really like the Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream but I've actually used all of this one up! So I'm currently using the Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It - which is nice but I prefer the Clinique one. After my shower I like to refresh my face with a face wipe, I'm not too fussy about the kind of wipes, as long as its not a baby wipe! The ones here are just Tesco's own brand.

After this I use a gentle cleanser, usually the Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean but I'm also trying out a sample of the Clinique Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser. Then without fail I apply some of La-Roche Posay Effaclar Duo as its great for oily skin!

Before applying makeup I use an oil-controlling moisturiser, either The Body Shop Mattifying Day Cream or Garnier Moisture Match (Oily/Combination) which I actually prefer!

At night I start by removing as much of my makeup as I can with a face wipe, I then tackle my eye and lip makeup with the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover (Lids, Lips and Lashes). I use my favourite thing ever which is the Soap & Glory Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser to make sure all my makeup is off and that my skin is really clean.

Finally I apply my acne cream which was given to my by my doctor (Dalacin T Topical Lotion) and a gentle eye cream - for prevention rather than cure - The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Please remember what works for my skin might not necessarily work for yours. I'm still following back anyone who follows me through GFC.

Review: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo

After seeing this on basically every blog I read I thought I may as well pick it up. For most people this seems to be a miracle product for oily/blemish prone skin and since I have that skin type too I had pretty high hopes.

I'm not disappointed in this product at all, I think it works quite well. I've been using it for almost 3 weeks now and I've found how I can use it to make it work for me. From my understanding I think this product is meant to work by breaking down the dirt in your pores, thus giving you clearer skin that is less oily with less breakouts.

This time last year my skin was a nightmare, I'd tried several different things from my doctor with no success. Finally I was given Dalacin T Topical Lotion which I was told to apply twice a day on clean skin. It's supposed to be like an antibiotic for your skin, so rather than just dealing with the present blemishes it's supposed to kill the infection in your skin, causing breakouts to stop happening. For me, this is what really cleared up my skin. Now I generally only get one or two blemishes on the 'bad week of the month'. Haha!

Anyways, I started using the Effaclar Duo morning and night in replacement of my Dalacin T as I felt that my skin was clear and it might be able to cope with changing things up a bit. However, on stopping using what was given to me by my doctor I've noticed that I have been getting blemishes again. So, for my skin, I don't think its the right thing for helping with breakouts. I have, however, found what I really love this product for - oil control!

I've been using my Dalacin T at night time and then the Effaclar Duo in the morning before I moisturise. Let me just say, this product is hands down better at controlling oil than any other primer I've used before! I honestly don't know what I do without it now! Even though I haven't noticed that my pores are clearer or that I don't find this right for my acne, I'm still in love! If you know me you'll know that I really struggle to find products that stay on my skin all day, or help others to stay. This is the answer to my prayers ladies and gentlemen! If you've got oily skin, seriously, give this a go!

I'm really keen for trying more products from this brand after the Beauty Buying Ban is over, if you've tried any then let me know! I'm still following back anyone who follows me on GFC and I'll see you in the next post!

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation!

You've probably read a million blog posts on this, but I only just got round to writing about it! I actually really like it! I'm super impressed! I picked up the shade 130 Shell as this is the palest one my local Boots had. I would say its a little too dark for me but it blends in so wonderfully that it really isn't very noticeable.

I don't usually use drugstore/highstreet foundations as I guess I'm always under the impression that you get what you pay for. I was pleasantly surprised with this £8.99 purchase!

I would say it gives light - medium coverage but you could definitely build it up with another layer on top if you wanted a more full coverage. It blends into the skin so well, which I wasn't expecting. It has SPF 20 which is really impressive for a cheap foundation too! I love how it feels on my skin, its very light and when I'm wearing it it doesn't feel like I have a full face of makeup on. Despite being quite light in coverage it manages to smooth over pores and it doesn't settle into them after time either. Having quite oily skin I was a bit worried that this wouldn't be as long lasting since it isn't that pricey but it actually stays on for quite some time! I would say I can wear this for around 5 hours without having to blot or re-powder which is great.

It reminds me a lot of the YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation (I think thats what its called) that I got a sample of. The YSL foundation kind of slid off my face after an hour though, its probably more suitable for someone with dry/normal skin. It's similar in the sense that it's very light and radiant and thats what I really like about it. Normally because I have oily skin I have to use very matte foundations that can sometimes look a little cakey - attractive. I wanted to pick up the matching powder for this foundation too but when I swatched the samples in the shop the powder was far too dark for me.

I'm so glad I picked this up! Despite not being that enthusiastic to begin with! If you've used this let me know what you think, and I'm still following anyone back who follows me through GFC.

Review: Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance

I'm a big lover of Aussie products, I know a lot of people like to complain about them - apparently they've got parabens or something in them. For me, this has never been a problem.

You spray this into towel dried hair and it's supposed to act as a detangler and heat protectant. I think it does a great job of detangling! It also smells so good, thats got to be my favourite thing about Aussie products! The smell of this lasts all day too, as well as leaving my hair super smooth! I don't really have a lot to say about this apart from the fact I love the smell and it works really well. I was thinking of making a post on my hair care routine as I have super thick and dry hair. Let me know what you think!
