Soft Rock Makeup Tutorial!

I decided to make a video tutorial for the most recent Face Of The Day that I did, you can click here to see it! I hope you enjoy this and let me know what you think!

Clinique Chubby Stick vs Chubby Stick Intense!

A few weeks ago I bought a Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in the colour Mightiest Maraschino and I'm super impressed with it! It's very much like a lipstick in terms of pigmentation but its really moisturising like a lip balm.

I already had a regular Chubby Stick in the colour Woppin' Watermelon which I love! I've used up so much of this, I think it's great just to throw on in the Spring/Summer. It's so easy to apply you don't even need a mirror!

I think the Chubby Stick Intense is a little harder to apply, simply because the colour is much stronger and its a lot more noticeable if you go out the lines! I find both of them super moisturising a love wearing them. For me, I will probably stick to using the Chubby Stick Intense as more of a bold, evening lipstick as I don't tend to wear super bright lipsticks during the day - I do really love this colour though! Mightiest Maraschino is like a dark pink/red that I think would suit loads of different skin tones. My regular Chubby Stick is what will stay in my handbag throughout the whole of spring and summer because it's so easy to use! I love them both but think they are good for different occasions!

6 Week Beauty Buying Ban?!?!

Yep! The title is true! I'm going on a 6 week beauty buying ban! I am official banning myself from buying any beauty products for the next 6 weeks. It's probably going to be quite hard as companies are always coming out with new products and I walk past Boots most days, but I'm going to do it! I'm saving up for a new car and I just can't afford to be buying beauty bits here and there!

My Gran is also going to America in March so I've given her over £100 to get some things from MAC for me - it's much cheaper to buy it over there. I thought with spending this much I may as well just wait till she's back. I have a lot of products that I want to use and enjoy, I've bought quite a lot of new stuff recently, so it'll be good to get a chance to really get into them. I'm also trying to tell myself that the MAC things I will have will be a reward... By the time I get my hands on that stuff I'll have plenty of new products to keep me satisfied (hopefully)!

All products mentioned on my blog after this post will have been purchased prior to this date. Don't worry! I'll let you know if I slip up! Haha.

The Beauty Buying Ban consists of refraining from buying: make up, skincare, haircare, body products and any unnecessary beauty related products!

If you want to join me on my Beauty Buying Ban then leave a comment below and I will add you to the list in this post! We can all do this together and save ourselves some money!

Who's Joining Me?

Kelly (Sparkles and Shoes)

The Beauty Buying Ban Ends on the 9th of April 2013.

Face of the Day #3 Soft Rock

I decided to do something a little different today as I recently watched the film "The Runaways" and I felt inspired by the rock chick kind of look. Of course I didn't want to do something quite so harsh as the dark liner as I'm a neutral kinda girl! I used mostly grey colours paired with a plum lip to give a slightly more edgy look.

For my face I used the Garnier Miracle Skin BB Cream which I mixed with the Avon Magic X illuminating face perfecter to give me a really light, natural coverage. Under my eyes I used my trusty Bobbi Brown Corrector and on any blemishes I used my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. Down my T-Zone I used some of the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder. For blush I added some of Inglot's powder blush in number 37, it's a really nice light peachy pink. I also did some subtle contouring with a matte bronzer, the one I used was the Marks & Spencers Limited Collection one.

For my eyes I started by filling in my brows with my Avon Perfect Brow Pencil in Blonde. I then used my Urban Decay Primer Potion to ensure that my eyeshadow was going to last all day. I used the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in the colour Permanent Taupe all over the lid (I actually forgot to photograph it! I know, slap on the wrist for me..) and then went over it with an illamasqua eyeshadow in the colour Feline which is a nice matte grey - I also used this under my eyes too. Under my brow bone and in the inner corner of my eye I used an Inglot eyeshadow in the colour 318 which is a matte white. To finish off my eyes I applied a generous amount of Soap & Glorys Thick and Fast Mascara.
To complete the look I used MACs lipstick in the colour Plumful.

I hope you like my slightly more girly take on the rock chick style!

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream

Ahh I'm so in love with this!

I got this a couple of weeks a go in a Boots online order because I couldn't seem to find it in any of their stores. It was definitely worth the wait thought! I haven't used any other body moisturiser - of any kind - since I got this! It reminds me a lot of the Soap & Glory  - The Righteous Butter in the sense that it feels quite thick and heavy but when you apply it to the skin it rubs in wonderfully and sinks in relatively quickly. The main reason why I love this so much is because of the smell! If you've used the Sugar Crush Body Scrub you'll understand! Its the sweetest, most gorgeous smell ever! A great combination of lime and brown sugar - doesn't even reading that sound like heaven? Hahaha! The smell of this body butter is very similar but not quite the same, this smells like a slightly more creamy version.. Probably because it's a cream, but it still smells absolutely amazing! It also leaves my skin feeling super soft and the smell lingers for 4 or 5 hours after applying it! I really can't say enough about this, I love it so much and it's my new 'holy grail' product!

Review: Garnier Moisture Match (Combination Oily)

Being someone with really oily skin, I'm always on the hunt for products that can help with the battle. I've been really impressed with my skin since using this and I definitely think it's making a difference. It feels nice and light and very refreshing on the skin and has a pleasant smell - which is always good. I've been using it along with the Garnier Miracle Skin BB Cream for oily/combination skin and my base seems to last for a lot longer than normal. I would say about 7 or 8 hours compared to the normal 3 or 4.

As in the picture above it states to do several things. I do find that it sinks into my skin really quickly and it leaves my face feeling very hydrated. It also definitely helps control the oil without making my face feel really dry later in the day.

For anyone with oily skin I would say its definitely worth giving a shot. At £5.99 you cant go wrong! Let me know if you like this product in the comments as well as any other products you like for oily skin! I'm still following anyone back on GFC that follows my blog.

Review: Garnier Miracle Skin BB Cream (Combination/Oily)

I think this  might be my new favourite thing! It was on offer in Boots for £7.49 instead of £9.99 and since I've never used a BB cream before I took advantage of the opportunity and threw it in my basket!

I would say it gives a light coverage but it is most definitely build able to a medium coverage. However, I feel that you don't need a lot of this as it's very runny in consistency.

I use the colour light which I actually think is slightly too dark for my skin but in the summer it will probably be fine so I'm not too worried. It's not majorly noticeable. It blends into the skin really well and gives a very flawless look despite being quite light in coverage. It claims to perfect skin by: anti-shine, blurring pores, evening tone, boosting glow, moisturising as well as having an SPF of 20. I definitely think it helps control the oil in my skin. I have super oily skin and I really struggle with finding a good base that will last and this seems to be the solution! I don't find that it sits in my pores which is good, it seems to just smooth over them and leave me with very even and smooth looking skin. I would definitely say it lasts quite well on the skin, I was able to wear this for around 5-6 hours without any noticeable meltdown due to the oil in my skin!

The fact that it gives a nice light coverage as well as leaving my skin looking even is great and I definitely think it will be a staple product for me during the summer because of the SPF.

Overall I really like this, I think it's great value for money as well as being a great product. I love how it looks and feels on my skin and I think I might have a new addiction for BB creams haha!

Review: Soap & Glory Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser

I've been using this for about a week now and I really like it!

The first thing I noticed about this is the smell, it smells a lot like lavender and slightly menthol - it's not a bad smell at all, its quite refreshing actually. I've never used this type of cleanser before but I was really intrigued to try one and because I love Soap & Glory loads I thought it would give this a go.

It has a really nice creamy consistency when you apply it to the skin, it feels very light and soft. A little bit also goes a long way! Don't make the mistake I did the first time I used it haha! It says it has panthenol, sweet almond, orange and lavender oils in it which you can definitely smell! Also in the box is a generously sized muslin cloth which is quite soft and makes wiping this off really easy.

Since using this I've noticed a massive difference in my skin! I use it at night time to take of my makeup before bed. Over time my pores seem to be getting clearer and clearer which I'm really happy about because I really do struggle with black heads and clogged pores. It also does a great job at taking off my makeup, I just wish you could use it around the eyes! Overall I really like this and definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try a hot cloth cleanser without breaking the bank! I've also noticed my skin is less oily since using it - yipee! I think once my skin is a little bit clearer I will probably cut down to using this every other night so as not to be wasteful!

MAC Plumful Lipstick

Yesterday I was on a trip with the family to IKEA and since we were in Edinburgh I persuaded them to let me go to the MAC store. Since the one in Edinburgh is the closest to where I live (it's almost 150 miles away!) I thought I'd better take advantage of the opportunity! I decided to pick up a lipstick as I don't actually own any other lipsticks from MAC. I got the shade Plumful which has a Lustre finish. I don't really know all that much about MAC lipsticks and all the different finishes but from wearing this I can tell you that it's very moisturising and sheer - but also quite pigmented. Plumful is a gorgeous pinky, purple, berry kind of colour. I also really like the packaging of the MAC lipsticks, it feels quite heavy and the slight sparkle in the graphite makes it look extra pretty! As soon as I saw this colour I completely fell in love with it! I know that this is going to be the start of a very expensive addiction! I think this colour would suit pretty much every skin tone, it's so beautiful and definitely recommend you check it out.

What are your favourite lipsticks? Let me know in the comments! I'm also still following anyone back who follows me through GFC.

Face Of The Day #2 Subtle Pink

I like reading these kinds of posts to see what people are using! I've been using a few different products recently and thought I would share them with you.

 The Face!
Garnier Moisture Match (Shine be gone) - I'm giving this a go as so many people seem to love it! Once I've used it for another few days I will be posting a full review of my thoughts. It does feel very hydrating when I apply it though.
Garnier Miracle Skin BB Cream for oily/combination skin (Light) - this is also something I'm trying out and will be posting a review on soon!
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - I can't think of when I wouldn't use this! Its my everyday powder and I love it!
Bobbi Brown Corrector (porcelain bisque) - I use this under my eyes to help battle the dark circles most days!
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer - I really like this, it's not too cakey and I used it on a blemish I have on my chin.
Topshop Cream Blush (Prime Time) - You only need a tiny amount of this but it blends in lovely and gives a very natural look on the skin!

The Eyes!
Avon Perfect Brow Pencil (blonde) - For my eyebrows of course!
Urban Decay Primer Potion (original) - I don't know what I would do without this! Best thing for my oily eyelids.
Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadow (05) - This is a really light pink colour that I used all over my eyelid.
Illamasqua Eyeshadow (Feline) - Super pretty matte gray colour that I used on the outer corner and in the crease. I love how easily this eyeshadow blends!
MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow (invincible light) - really glittery and shimmery! I used this in my inner corner as a highlight.
Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara - I've been using this non stop since I got it and sadly I think its going to come to the end of its life soon :(

The Lips!
Topshop Glaze (Antique) - I actually think I've worn this everyday since I got it, such a pretty colour.

Review: Nivea Lip Butter

Loads of people are going crazy about these right now! I know a lot of people who love them. So being a fan of Nivea lip products already.. I couldn't resist.

Firstly I think I should mention the amazing smell! The one I purchased is in the scent Vanilla & Macadamia which is so delightful! Not only does this smell great but it is honestly the best lip product I've ever used! I bought this when my lips where insanely dry and chapped from the cold. I put loads of this on before I went to bed and in the morning it was like I had a new pair of lips! I would say I've been pretty addicted to this since I got it and can honestly say my lips have never felt better! I highly recommend these and I will definitely be picking up some more!

Topshop Makeup Blush/Glaze

I've always wanted to pick up some of Topshop's makeup as so many people say good things about it. I don't know if this happens to anyone else.. but every time I've went into the Topshop near where I live, the makeup stand is always a mess! Barely any testers which have clearly led to people opening the sealed products and sticking their fingers in them, not very hygienic. The other day I decided to give it another shot and too my surprise it wasn't too bad. I picked up a lipgloss or "Glaze" in the colour Vintage and a cream blush in the colour "Prime Time".

Lip Glaze - £6, Cream Blush - £6.

I really like both of these products, especially the cream blusher. It looks incredibly bright but it looks really nice on. It's highly pigmented so you barely need any of it - I made the mistake of applying too much the first time I used it! I think its a really pretty colour that will look great now that the weather is starting to brighten up a bit, or so I'm hoping haha!

I also really like the lipgloss, its a really nice everyday kind of colour. It's not insanely pigmented but the colour pay off is really nice for a lipgloss. It's a little bit sticky but I don't mind this as I think stickier lipglosses stay on for a little longer. It also has a really nice vanilla scent which I love! If anyone watcher FleurDeForce on YouTube you'll know she mentioned that it's been rumoured that it's the same people who make Topshop lipglosses as it is the MAC ones. She also said that they're very similar, I don't have any to compare but if she says they're similar - I'll go with that to save the bank!

Left to Right: Glaze in "Antique", Cream Blush in "Prime Time"

Overall, I'm really pleased with these products. They're really good quality for the price and Topshop are giving students 20% off right now making them even more affordable!

My New Friend! The Olloclip

People of the internet! Let me introduce you to my new friend: The Olloclip! If you're addicted to your iPhone like me and also enjoy taking plenty of pictures of your day-to-day life and memories then this is the perfect thing for you! The Olloclip is a small device which slides over the existing camera lens of your iPhone, it provides 3 camera lens options: Fisheye, Macro and Wide angle.

Normal iPhone Camera, no lens

Macro lens

Fisheye lens

Normal iPhone camera, no lens

Phone not moved from picture above, only difference is addition of Wide Angle lens

It's tiny!

protective bag which doubles as a lens cleaner!

lens caps

how it looks on the iPhone 5!

I love this so much, the wide angle lens really does allow you to capture a lot more in your picture with just the addition of this small device. The macro lens also works great (to access it you have to unscrew the wide angle) allowing you to take pictures in great detail of things just over a centimetre away! My favourite has to be the fisheye lens, I've always been a fan of the rounded look it gives pictures. Hopefully you can get an idea of what the Olloclip can do from the pictures above!

I think it's great because for someone like me - who is in no way a photographer of any kind - it allows so much more creativity without having to humph around a heavy DSLR. I feel kind of guilty borrowing my mums camera to take nicer pictures for my blog all the time, so this is the perfect thing. It's also so small (yet so powerful!) that it can fit in your bag or pocket really easily, meaning you can take it with you wherever you go.

I purchased my Olloclip from Amazon and paid £49.99 which was a pretty good deal considering these usually retail for around £69.99. I'm definitely going to use this all the time! Especially for my blog! Let me know what you think of it, if you have one or not and I'll see you in my next post!

Ombré/Dip Dye Tutorial!

I had my hair like this before and I loved it! So I decided to do it again and record it so I could make a video in the hope that I might be able to help some people who want to do this themselves. I wanted my ombré to be quite subtle this time, however, last time I did it I left the dye on for a little longer to achieve a more vibrant result (you can see this in the final two pictures in the video). I hope this helps anyone who wants to achieve this look at home without having to pay the salon price!

TAG: I Heart Drugstore/High Street Makeup!

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand overall?

Definitely Rimmel at the moment! They've got some great new products at the moment such as the Apocalips which I am in love with. Their Stay Matte pressed powder is also the best powder I've ever used and it's only £3.99 - BARGAIN!

2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
M&S Limited Collection Bronzer: This is completely matte and is the perfect colour for bronzing up my almost transparent skin!
M&S Limited Collection Blusher (Pink Mix): This blush is adorable! It has a cute mosaic type pattern made up of varying cute shades which create the cutest girly pink colour on the cheeks.
Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush (48 Rose) - This is super pigmented and also completely matte! I find it goes with a lot of different make up looks as its very natural looking
Boujois Healthy Mix Concealer: This smells like apricots and gives a nice coverage without looking cakey and dry, I find it quite hydrating so if you have a blemish you want to cover this isn't going to emphasise any dry skin that might come along with it.
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer: I think everyone loves this! It's so cheap and covers amazingly well.
Rimmel Apocalips (Celestial): This is a great every day colour and I adore the texture of these products. Full review here.
Revlon Lip Butter (045 Cotton Candy): These lip butters are really moisturising and are really easy to wear as the colours are quite sheer, great for day time wear.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (Honey): This is by far my most worn lip product of all time, I went from being someone who never wore anything on the lips to being obsessed with this, the colour and the staying power.
Nivea Lip Butter (Vanilla and Macadamia): This has saved my dry lips this winter and I will probably be posting a full review on it soon.

3. Least favorite product?

I tend to research things a lot before I purchase them and I genuinely don't own anything that I don't like or use.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer: As mentioned above, it covers amazingly well for the price.
Maybelline Colour Tattoos: These are very similar in texture to the MAC Paint Pot's apart from the fact that they don't have as much staying power. They come in a nice range of colours and look great on their own or as a base for eyeshadows.

5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)

Not entirely a product I'm going to mention but as a brand I don't hear too much being mentioned about Marks and Spencers Limited Collection make up, everything I've tried from this range I have loved so I hope more people discover the collection soon.

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?

Soap and Glory Love At First Blush. If I remember rightly I paid £11 for this, don't get me wrong: I love the blush and use it all the time but I just feel for the drugstore/highstreet its a little steep in price for what it is.

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!

Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadow (05) is a light shimmery colour which is slightly pink toned. I think its very similar to colours from the Urban Decay Naked palettes. Such as: Bootycall (Naked 2), Sin (Naked) and Virgin (Naked).

Left to Right: Boujois LRP (05), UD Bootycall, UD Sin, UD Virgin

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you do the tag too then leave me a comment below and I will definitely check it out! I'm still following anyone who follows my blog via GFC and I MIGHT also be doing a giveaway soon!
